How Dreams Come True


It seems like the calling to serve others is something that Lauren Nidea cannot or will not ignore.

When did she first hear that call? Was it during the two medical mission trips that she took with her family a few years ago to the Dominican Republic? It seemed an ideal way for the Nidea family to serve. Her father, a physician, and her mother, a nurse, were intent on involving their two children in a worthwhile mission. To this day, the poverty Lauren witnessed remains embedded in her mindand memories of the people embedded in her heart.
LOGAN Ambassador Receives AFP Award


Jamie McGraw is famous around ‘these here parts’not only among the LOGAN faithful and the South Bend Medical Foundation where he works, but also out and about in our community. Yet to have him recognized at the annual American Fundraising Professionals luncheon takes fame to a new level, even for Jamie. The story of Jamie’s Challenge solidified him as the best candidate to receive the AFP 2013 Volunteer Fund Raiser Award. In Jamie’s case, that award could also be termed the ‘Fun Raiser Award’ for the classic atmosphere of fun he creates surrounding everything he does.

Making a House Their Home


Valerie Wilson remembers moving day. It was September 25th and there was a lot to do. As program coordinator for the home, Valerie was in charge of making sure that the belongings of Becky, Charlene and Martha all arrived in the brand new home. She oversaw the task of making sure that everything found its proper place. There were many details to blending the lives of three women into a new household. Yet, that was the easy part. Valerie’s real work began in helping the ladies feel comfortable in their new home and with each other as they formed a new family.
